Dues Renewals: In the last two months of 2=
008
EANGUS sent 90,000 dues renewals to the States. We send two
notices of renewals. The cost to EANGUS of sending renewal=
s in
2008 exceeded $75,000. I would ask that the States work h=
ard
to get their present members to renew their memberships. To
remain strong with Congress we need strong membership numbers =
and
an active membership to write their Congressional Representatives.<=

Staff Changes: I
received the resignations from Glenn Schmidlko=
fer,
Area III and David Culwell, Area IV as members of the Executive
Council. These members have served their Areas and States for
many years. They participated in numerous committees while
serving on the Council and we will miss their input and presence on=
the
Council. I wish them well and thank them for their loyal and
dedicated service. The Executive Council will consider the
recommendations of the Caucuses for their replacements.
Due to our lower membership numbers the National Office has reduced=
the
hours of two employees and released a full-time and a part-time
employee. You may experience some delays in membership cards and
renewals as a result of these layoffs.
EANGUS hired a new
Comptroller, Ms. Cheryl Gardner. Cheryl has 20 years of
experience in various areas of accounting and has worked with EANGUS
since October 2008 as a temp agency employee.
Cheryl assisted EANGUS in the selection of four auditing firms=
as
candidates for our Auditors. The Executive Council will
select the firm at the upcoming Executive Council meeting.
Free Memberships: U=
SAA
owed EANGUS for 5500 members who had received promotions to E5 and =
were
eligible for one year free membership. We received the money =
from
USAA will process these memberships as quickly as we can.
I wrote a special letter apologizing for the delay and let tho=
se
affected know what happened.
